Walking on Sunshine Afghan

Despite it being December, I wanted to work on something colorful and light for the summer months. A quick search for ‘crochet sunshine’ and I found Hooked On Sunshine’s Whatcha-ma-call-it pattern on Raverly. I really liked the different textures of the stitches but I wanted my colors to mimic the sun and colored clouds at sunrise or sunset. So, each semicircle would be the sun and it’s rays followed by clouds and white sky.

The color switches were different from the pattern instructions which was a little complicated in the beginning but it was easy once I made notes on the instructions. And as always, my feline “helper” came to watch the yarn twitch and got himself all wrapped up in it.

This was crocheted using 100% cotton yarn:
I Love This Cotton Yarn #36 Curry (suns semicircles)
I Love This Cotton Yarn #12 Buttercup (rays behind the sun semicircles)
Crafter’s Secret Variegated Cotton Yarn #370 Sunlit Seafoam (clouds)
I Love This Cotton Yarn #6 White (clear sky)
